Thought for the Dazed

I've had to give up that Distance Learning course as I was having trouble seeing the teacher.

The New Session

Today brings the start of a new Academic Year at Hull. There are of course lots of things to worry about. Sorting out all the paperwork that a new session brings, Finding all the lectures on the sprawling campus. Getting on with all the new people that are bound to be there. Keeping up with the material in the courses.  And worrying about fitting in.

But that's enough of my problems.

Welcome to all our new (and returning) students.

Thanks for the help today Rob, hope to be getting an updated Yellow booklet as soon as possible. One question however, are the exams written or computer based ?

The exams are a mix of paper and computer based. In my module you will do a mid-semester test which will be a set of computer based multiple-choice questions. You will then take a written exam at the end of the semester. The other thing you will need to do is demonstrate your finished program for assessment at the end of this semester. You can find precise details of how every module is assessed in the undergraduate handbook for the course.

Thanks, i'll check out the undergraduate handbook. Multiple choice ? thats what I like to hear. I will happily demonstrate a finished program, so simply coursework. Will the written paper be writing code or checking our programming knowledge, or even the theory side of things ?

Sorry if too many questions.

Its a mix of both

Usually, it involves maybe writing some small code snippits, or demonstrating a feature, or how to do something in code. Thats more 08101

Then for 08120, its more in depth, things like encapsulation, etc. Class heirarchys are another example

But there is still programming theory that goes with it, and you will generally be assed on both..

The paper has a section a and b, a is compulsory, b is 2 out of the 3 big questions. Basically themed, but expand further on things
