Thought for the Dazed

I've had to give up that Distance Learning course as I was having trouble seeing the teacher.

The Most Complicated Game I’ve Ever Played

IMG_5488.jpg

Tonight we had a go at “The Most Complicated Game I’ve Ever Played”. It’s called “High Frontier” and boy is there a lot going on. The aim of the game is to colonise space, build up your fleet, explore planets and asteroids and boldly….. Well, you know the rest.

The board is full of incredibly detailed descriptions of places to try and reach using rockets which you need to carefully provision and fuel if you are going to get anywhere. I think it would take a day to play it properly, we only really managed to scratch the surface of the gameplay. But I did manage to colonise Mars, which I’m rather pleased about. The game is packed with proper science about space exploration, and much of the gameplay is really a simulation of the things you’d need to do if you really wanted to explore space. Great fun.

If you want a fun game then I would recommend a game called Munchkins. I got introduced to it a year ago and havnt stopped playing it since, its a card game which focuses on taking the mic of everything else, examples are in the Space Munchkins box there are several cards called "Red Shirts" (please please please get the star trek reference) who can help you in battle but on rolling a dice and getting a 6 afterwards they tend to get overexcited and get themselves killed anyway! :D
its a great game for many people and if you ever wanted to have a game I have several boxes (the original, a space munchkin and munchkin bites (gothic style!)) that I would be more than willing to bring in for computer science students/lecturers to enjoy with!

I've played Munchkins and it's great. I think someone won the game by using a "Level 10 gazebo". Loads of fun and also a whole bunch of extensions too.
