Thought for the Dazed

I've had to give up that Distance Learning course as I was having trouble seeing the teacher.

Windows Phone 7 Series Looking Good

4384619669

I like the look of the new Windows Phone. I especially like this new blog from Charlie Kindel who sets out very nicely the priorities and the approach being taken to make this new device. It seems to me that the thinking behind this is very sensible indeed, and I’m really looking forward to getting my hands on a device.

Does that mean you will be getting one then? As well as an iPhone or just to play with?

I think it is very likely I'll get a Windows Phone. I really miss being able to write C# programs for my phone, and it does look rather nice. And after all, it is a gadget....

Can you not write C# programs for your iPhone with Mono?

I could use Mono. It would mean paying out some cash for the framework, which I'm not that keen to do though. However the real problem is (and I'm probably being very unfair here) whenever I use "things designed to behave as other things" I come unstuck over the little incompatibilities that always seem to crop up in these situations. Perhaps some really bad experiences with early versions of Open Office have coloured my outlook in this respect, but for now I've decided to stick with the genuine article.

Crikey, I didn't realise you had to pay for Mono on the iPhone! Fair dos. Have you tried Objective-C?
