Thought for the Dazed

I've had to give up that Distance Learning course as I was having trouble seeing the teacher.

Saturday Open Day

Open Day 1

These are some of the audience. The other photograph is on Flickr too, just click the picture to find your way there.

Just had a great University Open Day (I enjoyed myself, hope the people that came along did too). We had a massive turn out and the brand shiny new Lecture Theatre was packed. I saw several people on the campus clutching their C# Yellow Books (even though the cover is not as yellow as I would have liked). I promised to put a bunch of links up on my blog that I showed at the end of the presentation. Here they are:

Hiya Rob,

Really enjoyed your seminar today, found out a lot of useful information! Including this link! I was on the front row, just out of view of this photo :)

I was wondering, other than the big yellow, "dust effect" book what are good resources to look at prior to joining the course?

I already have some scripting experience, in HTML, CSS and PHP, having worked on websites for local bands and friends hobbies including http://www.worldwidelighthouses.com and http://www.semiskinned.co.uk

Will that be of any use and/or relevant?!

Many thanks in advance

Danny

Any programming experience is good. PHP is a nice place to write interactive web pages, and it integrates well with SQL, which is something else you might find interesting. A knowledge of CSS and HTML is useful too, but you need to remember that HTML is a markup language, not a programming one. You might find it fun to take a look at Javascript (and perhaps ASP).
