Thought for the Dazed

I've had to give up that Distance Learning course as I was having trouble seeing the teacher.

SkyDrive is Superb

Fancy 25G of online storage for free? Thought so. It gets even better though. You can have public storage, private storage or anywhere in between. Everything is done via the web, so you can push files between PCs, Macs and anything with a browser. I’m getting into the habit of lobbing important stuff up there just to keep things safe.

If you have a Windows Live account you are in business. Just head up to http://skydrive.live.com and start uploading files. The biggest downsides for me are the fact that you have to drag individual files into the storage and that my home broadband makes uploading a rather slow experience.

Great stuff.

I find http://getdropbox.com much more handier than SkyDrive. The use case is slightly different but it's a gem if you have many computers.

Rob, try using the handy tool "Gladinet" - it lets you mount your skydrive as a mapped drive and then you can drag and drop multiple files.

I have used dropbox but find it a bit of a pain with the 2GB cap.

When you upload something using this site, "thing" does it produce an absolute path fr the file in the form of the file, or in the form of a html page?

Thanks in advance!

You get a web page you can use to navigate your uploaded files. If you notify someone that a file is available they get sent a link to a web page from which they can download the file.
