Thought for the Dazed

I've had to give up that Distance Learning course as I was having trouble seeing the teacher.

Friday Four Fifteen Club

I'm starting a new club for first year students. It is for those "lucky" enough to have the 4:15 pm slot on Friday afternoon. The weather on Friday was horrid, and by the end of the day most of us felt like we had done enough for the week. Thanks for turning up folks.

This is not the entire group, I've left part of the room off so that you can claim that you were really there.....

Here at Bath we have lectures starting from 0815 until 1815. Last semester we CompScis had a system Architecture lecture at 0815 on a friday, with various bits throughout the day as well, climaxing in an 1815 Sys Arch. tutorial! That's 0815->1905! Not fun for those of us living off campus.

1615 lecture? Pfft! (8-p)

As a lecturer in computing at a Midlands university, attendance at lectures at 4:15 on a Friday would be a total non-starter. Well done to those who attended! We try to keep Friday afternoons free for admin meetings, Boards of Study etc.

As for the horror story from Bath, that just sounds like poor scheduling on someone's part.

Enjoying the blog, pointed here from the UK Academic Team blog.

At Bath they assume first years are have on-campus accommodation. Some of us have off campus, uni-provided accommodation. My friday this semester is better, although my Monday is now rather hectic! Oh well!
