Thought for the Dazed

I've had to give up that Distance Learning course as I was having trouble seeing the teacher.

.NET Micro Framework 3.0 is Now Out

While we are talking about Version 3.0 of stuff we find that the third version of the .NET Micro Framework is also available. This one is very interesting, because it with it the mouthwatering prospect of being able to develop for the embedded platform using the Express versions of Visual Studio. It runs in Visual Studio 2008, including the free ones. This is wonderful news for hobbyists, as it means that you just need to get some hardware and you are away writing C# code for your tiny device. Go and get it (again for free) here.

And don't forget to enter the DareToDreamDifferent contest.

I thought it was already out :(

Oh,I have a friend from www.binaryzoo.com who has finished making a game for release into the Xbox Live Community Games market. It should be great, and to help the creator transfer from Dark Basic, he used your C# book and found the transition smooth.

I've been following your blog for a fair while now and I've long since come to the conclusion that you do indeed know what you are talking about when it comes to .NET and the like. This can lead to just one thing. I'm stuck and I'm going to ask you for help... The curse of competence as Dilbert well knows...

Anyway, I'm a very, very rusty VB6 developer that has recently been struck by the "I want to code again" bug. Naturally I want to move to VB.NET. I used to do a fair bit of C stuff too so the transition to C#.NET is also planned.

Anyway, the question. Can you develop for Windows Mobile 6 on the Express version of .NET? I've had a look on the MS site but it wasn't clear... Ever tried?

I don't have an XBox 360 or a Zune, so the next best thing is my mobile...
