Thought for the Dazed

I've had to give up that Distance Learning course as I was having trouble seeing the teacher.

Mad Magazine Rocks

I did something today I've not done for a while. I bought a Mad Magazine. I've been buying Mad on and off for over forty years (gosh, that does make me sound old) and it has always been good for a laugh. The magazine I got a while back wasn't that funny, and seemed to be packed with dodgy lifestyle stuff and advertisements, but the latest one seems to be a return to old style satire and gross out humour.

Just right for me then.

I particularly liked this book advert, part of a solid swipe at the Staples office supplies catalogue.

Indeed.

- there's a reason for that :)

Quite the play on the series Rob, however, its not as funny as it could have been. It was too predictable :)

I thought it was quite funny. I've never understood why people would be happy to be seen reading a book with "for dummies" in the title.

I guess you've got a good point!

I decided to start on "Battleships" a tad early, hope you don't you mind. Would I get more marks for the more functionality I add ? such as 4 different type of ships spaning multiple squares, normal and hard Ai, 2 player support and a mini game akin to Space Invaders ? Or am I making too many too many assumptions and not asking the customer?

On another note, I was commenting your blog instead of emailing you saying the lab spec today was a bit, terrible :) Taught me a lesson, stop trying to be smart and actually be smart!

When you get the spec. you will find that 20% of the marks are set aside for "enhancements". What you add there is up to you, I'll give some suggestions though. So yes, you can get credit for adding stuff. Multiple square ships and opponent AI are good things to work at.

Sounds good, i'll see what the spec asks for first before enhancing, i'll still have a go though...

Shame you know who I am so soon anyway. Ah well, my fault for making a crackable code.
